I'm looking for new information about the discontinuation of Quicktime Support for Windows. We have both Windows and Mac machines in our lab. The notes on the newest release did not seem to mention this issue, but maybe I missed it in my quick look. We would like to be able to continue to use Datavyu for all our coding, but may not be able to if it is not stable on Windows machines. I did see the suggestions to use a Java plugin but it wasn't clear that was a long-term solution. Any updates on the prognosis would be appreciated. |
The Java plugin should work for the foreseeable future. We have a beta version of an FFMPEG plugin for Windows undergoing testing right now for release in Datavyu version 1.4. The FFMPEG will eventually replace the other plugins as the default on Windows machines and we hope to have it run efficiently and stably on H.264 encoded files. We do not plan major revisions to the JavaFX plugin (besides bug fixes) so you should be able to use JavaFX as a fallback plugin even after FFMPEG becomes default. |
