I am using SHAPA (datavyu) to analyze a behavioral data where I need to use some Nominal variable. While running the program I don't find any difference in the variable type of Nominal, Text and Predicate. I know there statistical meaning but in the software I don't find any specific difference while specifying the task. I don't know whether I am missing any details as I am new to this software. Kindly help.

Basically, the variable types affect how Datavyu stores the data, and make some difference in what the cells look like (how you type in the information). Predicates are no longer supported. Text is useful for making notes and columns, but is difficult if not impossible to write scripts for (including printing the data out for analyses).

We strongly recommend that you use matrix as the variable type (when setting up the columns), and nominal as the argument type (when defining the prompts that appear in a new cell, where you type in your code). This is the best form for later working with your data in scripts, including printing it out for later analyses. It doesn't matter within Datavyu if that's not statistically accurate; that distinction only comes into play when you get to your statistical software.
