When using the controller, onset and offset can be established, however it does not import into the spreadsheet using the number pad key codes (clear and / buttons). The only way we can seem to get it to work is to manually move the cursor into the cell block before each point of interest. Any suggestions?

Is the cell you're trying to change highlighted before you hit clear or / ? The cell needs to be active (highlighted) for the program to know which cell to update. If you've just inserted a cell, it will be active until you click on something else. If you're going back to cells that are already in the spreadsheet, you will either need to click on each one, or use the arrow key to navigate to each one.
