Hi! I downloaded the latest stable version and also tried older versions, but nothing ever opens the video I added with "add data", but says something like "time tracking can not be calculated". I have Java and quicktime and can play the video (mpg) itself but not through Datavyu. I downloaded the latest development release but the zip wouldn't open but copy itself. Any ideas how I could add data and play the video?

It sounds like Datavyu was unable to automatically identify the frame rate of your video (that's what "time tracking can not be calculated" means). When that happens, it should open a dialogue box asking you to manually enter the frame rate. If the program didn't ask you for the frame rate, let us know so we can log that bug with the developers.

If you are experiencing a bug that prevents you from manually entering the frame rate, you can either wait for a fix to the issue, or convert your videos to a format that Datavyu can automatically identify the frame rate for in the meantime. If you want to try converting the videos we'd be happy to advise on that, just let us know.

Thanks for answering!! It doesn't ask me to enter the frame rate. Can I do this without being asked? How should I convert the videos? What should I select as target video? When I enter the source video it automatically sets the target video as .datavyu.mp4, but when I select "convert video" nothing happens.

I solved the problem, converting into .mov, here I am asked to type in the frame rate!

I'm so glad it worked out. For future reference, you can also manually enter in frame rates on the Data Viewer Controller in the 1.1.7 version of Datavyu. To do this, you simply have to enter in the new frame rate in the “Steps per second” box and click enter.
