Announcing the new Datavyu v1.3.6 with enhanced features and transcription support!

I am able to compile and run datavyu from git just fine. However, I cannot see how I can enable any sort of video playback. There is no quicktime and I cannot figure out how to enable VLC playback.

I'd appreciate any pointers.

Are you getting the error about "Unable to load library 'vlc': libvlc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory", or some other problem? That error should include some other suggestions, if you get there.

It's possible the latest git versions have broken VLC as we're in the process of moving to a new video backend (mainly OpenFX). You might try an older revision, maybe f031e6f555fe5b6ead1fcaeb8062db62b9adf4f5 before the new video libraries were introduced.
