Announcing the new Datavyu v1.3.6 with enhanced features and transcription support!

Does anyone have example scripts of suggestions for how to evaluate the contingency between behaviors, or to analyze moment-to-moment changes in behavior? We have babies and moms playing with toys; we code on- and off-sets of target behaviors (baby touches toy, mom touches toy, mom labels toy, baby mouths toy...), and can extract those episodes.

But, is there some way to extract the data in a way that we can see what happened over time?

Thanks

We have a few different studies that look at similar behaviors across columns. If you're interested in using R, you can merge columns by time (and corresponding behaviors and their arguments) and then either export the merged data as a spreadsheet or do further analyses and plotting from within R.

I've created a set of scripts and an R package to do this for our lab's specific purposes, but if you have further questions I would be happy to try and answer them.

Are the target behaviors coded in separate columns or in the same column? And, were the onsets and offsets of those behaviors extracted in your current output?

We are still setting it up. Currently, the behaviors are in different columns (they can be overlapping) and we can extract onset and offsets.

It sounds like you might want to mutex the different columns together (see create_mutually_exclusive) and analyze the data in a specialized program (e.g. SPSS, R). Datavyu scripts are really meant to modify the spreadsheet and export the data so that it can be analyzed. Complex analyses themselves will be difficult to do with scripts.

yes, we don't want to use datavyu scripts to analyze the data, we are trying to figure out how to format it so we can analyze it in SPSS or R.
