I am having trouble playing media files smoothly in datavyu. I switched to a Mac after having video playback issues on my PC. At first, playback on the Mac was great; however, it became choppy after a couple of months. I had our in-house tech support look at the computer, and we did not find any problems with the network or computer itself.

I am using datavyu version 1.3.4 on a Mac Mini (OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.14, 8 GB memory, 1600 MHz). The files are in .m4v format, and I play them using the quicktime plugin. The files play smoothly in VLC and quicktime but are choppy in datavyu.

Any advice for improving playback quality?

Thank you, Penina

Hello Penina,

It is very interesting that video playback was great on your mac and then became choppy after a couple of months. That shouldn't be the case if everything in your workflow (computer, video files, plugin) were exactly the same. Were all of your videos recorded the same way with the same camera?

Smooth video playback is something that we can never guarantee with such varying systems and video file formats. I hope that we can find a way to get back to your video playback while it was playing well on your Mac.

Please think if there is anything that you updated or changed about you system and workflow that might have disrupted the playback.
