Announcing the new Datavyu v1.3.6 with enhanced features and transcription support!

Good Morning, I'm trying to install Datavyu on several lab machines, it installs and runs fine as the local Administrator account but doesn't work for other users. It installs to the Program Files (x86) folder but throws a Java exception if I try and run it as anyone else (I'm away from the computer but it mentions something about a missing Main function). I noticed that various folders are created in the AppData folder but copying them across to the test user account didn't work and I don't want to have to copy folders around for every user especially as some of them may not have logged onto the PC yet.

We're using the latest version of Datavyu (downloaded yesterday) and QuickTime. The software runs perfectly under the Administrator account but no one else (we can't have these users running as Administrator as it violates our security policy).

Apologies for my delayed response. It seems like this might caused by a setting on your user accounts. Please ensure that the users are able to download and use applications that are not just from the equivalent of an App store.

If you can, please provide the exact error message so we can look into it further.

I install the software using the local admin account and it looks like it's installing everything to C:\Program Files (x86) until the very last second where it starts installing to the Local\Appdata folder. The software runs correctly after install.

THEN...

I log in as a regular user and there's no desktop shortcut or Start Menu icon but I can manually go to C:\Program Files (x86) but get the errors

(the titlebar says)
org/datavyu/Datavyu

(message) no main class.

I click OK but get

(title bar) Failed to launch JVM

(message) Failed to launch JVM

I discussed this with our developer and he said that your computer should not require administrator access to install Datavyu. Please run the installer as the user who will be actually using Datavyu and everything should work fine.
